So, the obvious question is, what's the internet all about ?? Well, quite simply the internet is a series of 'net-worked ' or connected computers that has built up over the years. It generally began as a series of computers connected for researchers, academics and students that, grew & grew.If you remember that then, you'll never go wrong. This was actually as far back as, 2002.It was very much the advent of the common 'browser' that lead to today's current situation. The browser (internet explorer, etc), allowed people to read a common 'code' (html) that allowed people in, different parts of the country or, world to read information that was sent across to them in 'files ' (ftp)..Lot's of people now like to upload images onto their site, often with-in their own music genre (lovers rock, root's music, etc|).There can be licensing issues with, such activities so, please do be aware of that. There are also plenty of sites with 'royalty free music' so, that's also a good thing to know, as well.We work with all kinds of people including musicians, DJ's and i.t professionals as well so, that's also good to know.
Going back to, 'the way the internet works' , when you send a message across the internet, it's basically sent as a 'file' (text and images) that's then, 'translated' by the computer or, terminal at the other side of you're connection.Prior to common codes being set up, people would then have to translate this information on, the other side, in order to be able to read it which, is obviously quite time consuming.HTML and common codes put an end to this..So, when you're sending a message across the internet, you're basically sending 'file transfer protocols across (ftp) and, you're basically asking the network to 'ftp' you're images and text across to your collegue on, the other side of town who, will obviously be able to read and interpret it, via their browser at, the other end of the connection.....That's how the whole things grown and moved, forward...
How's this relevant to me today, you might ask ?/ Well, simply, if you understand that, you then understand the need for common codes and languages in todays marketplace which, then leads you to today's current situation. If you're in business or, looking at websites, it's those 'common codes you're looking at.And, you'll understand the need to be able to access information, articles, reports, brochures, etc, at home, at work or, more commonly today, on the move. Therefore, anything designed today, need's to 'fit to', computer screens, moniters, mobile devices (much more common, now)'high definition screens'etc, whether you're at home, at work or, perhaps overseas. That's the basic requirement of today's internet user..
